Proud Mommy!

..who forgot her camera..oops!

Hannah's dance teacher called me today to tell me she wanted Hannah to move out of the "Tiny Tot"class (2-5yr olds) and into the "Petite" classes (5-7 yr olds). She told me that Hannah was ready for the big move. As a girl who danced from age 3 to age 18, this was a proud moment for me. Hannah was a little nervous and she wasn't sure she wanted to dance with the big kids. But... this afternooon we went to the Petite Ballet class...and she did so well! It was super cute, they used the ballet bar and OMG it was adorable to watch her. I cannot believe I didn't bring my camera! Next Tuesday I will bring and post some pics.

I am so proud of my girl!

Winter BLAHS are setting in!

Well it's almost the end of January, so that means here in New England we have a good 2 months more of winter to "look forward to." It also means the people I live with are starting to go stir crazy! I have heard IT ALL, all of the things they want to do. SOOO...
I have compiled a list of the things they all want do but can't...LISTEN UP KIDS!

THINGS WE CANNOT DO IN THE WINTER:
1. Play on the swingset
2. Ride bikes
3. Roller skate
4. Dig in the dirt
5. Swim in Meme's pool
6. Go outside with no coat
7. Go swing at the park
8. Hop in the wagon and go for a walk.
9. Use sidewalk chalk on the driveway
10.Wear flip flops
11.Take baby dolls for walks in their stroller
12.Sleep in a tent...outside

***I cannot change these things, so crying, whining, begging and temper tantrums will not work***

I have made indoor tents, not good enough.
I have brought beach shovels and pails into the snow, kept them happy for about a minute. They actually fought over the snow!
I let Hannah wear her bathing suit around the house for a day, all she did was complain she was cold but would not change.
I bought a chalkboard and hung it up in the playroom, apparently not "fun" like outside.

So, for now, I GIVE UP! The winter has won and I feel trapped! I need a vacation!

Food for thought

So Hannah just came running into the room where I am watching the Inauguration and said, "Hey, I think Barack Obama played on daddy's baseball team!"

LOVE these two!

That's What Friends Are For

I went out with my three best friends from High School last night. We got dinner and went to see "Bride Wars". It was a perfect chic movie to see with friends! We had such a nice time. It is so amazing to me that even after 11 years (OMG) of being out of high school we are still so close and that when we get together it's like we go back in time and nothing has changed. We laughed, we giggled and we cried...

One friend told us she is prego! YIPPEE!!! It is her and her husbands first baby. They will be such wonderful parents. I am so Happy for them!! The poor thing was so tired and feeling kind of yucky all night, I DO NOT miss those days...not one little bit. Luckily she is 10 weeks, so hopefully she'll start feeling better soon.

Another friend is going through a divorce. Can you say NASTY??!! Her ex is an ass, I'm sorry, but he is! They have a 4 year old daughter, which makes it that much harder. She was kind of down, and we all cried for her, but things are starting to look up for her and I hope a little girlie time helped her out a little.

It is nice to know that no matter what is going on with any one of us, we always have our little alliance behind us. We are all nearly 30 now, some with kids, some with none, married, divorced, working, SAHM's...we are all doing something a little different but once we get together it's like we are no different than we were when we roamed the halls of our high school.

I LOVE MY FRIENDS!

Cold, BORING days

Life has really not been very exciting this week with the bitter cold that has kept up inside most of the time...so here is a little taste of what we have been up to....

***I was walking into the kitchen this afternoon and saw that my son, almost 2, was in there. I got to the doorway and he pointed his finger and said, "No mama...I time out!" I wasn't about to argue with him so I didn't go into the room, but I stood there watching him. Again he pointed and said,"No mama...I time out!" Well, a few minutes later he allowed me into the room and it was quite apparent by the smell what he had been doing in there. I guess he has finally figured out the privacy/potty thing...***

***Hannah was asking me to play Wii bowling with her today so I gave in and played. She is pretty good at it and gets very competitive. (She def gets that from the hubby)During our gaming time she came out with a few new phrases, not sure were she learned some of them...
"Oh Yeah Baby"
"I'm gonna kick your booty"
"Oh yeah, I'm the best"
Then she held up the "L" sign with her hands when she beat me!
What are they teaching this child in preschool!! HAHA!!***

***Oh and one more thing that is making me a little crazy. Camden has decided he is only going to eat bananas, cheese, applesauce and yogurt...THAT IS IT! I have made so many things for him and he will not eat! I know he won't starve and the things he is eating are pretty healthy but geez, I would get sick of only eating that stuff for 4 days straight! I may try to make a pizza tomorrow, maybe he'll eat that!***

Elmo Cake Anyone?

Well the highlight of today, so far, was heading over to Michael's for an ELMO cake pan. Camden is turning 2 in a few weeks...I cannot believe it! So I have taken on the task of trying to make the cake rather than ordering one and paying through the roof. I have never decorated a cake before, not of this magnitude! It should be interesting! Anyone have suggestions or tips? I am going online this afternoon to see if I can find some ideas!

Dear Snow...

Dear Snow,
PLEASE do not ruin my plans once again. I am begging you! We are supposed to go out tonight for Lee's Holiday Party. Dinner-A Few Drinks-And the best part of all...the kids are staying overnight at my parents! So can you please just do me the favor of staying away long enough to have the party be on?? Long enough for us to have a nice dinner and some fun times with friends? Maybe at least long enough for us to drop the kids off...
Snow, you have gotten in the way of so many activities this winter already. Postponed Dance Recitals, cancelled dinners, game night with friends...need I go on? Not to mention the COUNTLESS snow days Hannah has already had, I mean really...she only goes to school 3 mornings a week, can't you plan out these storms better? I need those morning to grocery shop, to clean the house, so have a little time with only ONE child in the house.
I am just asking for ONE NIGHT OUT! Give us a few inches after say... 10pm, we can handle that...just don't dump a foot of snow on us and expect that all will be ok...it won't!

So please...just hold off or find someones elses night to invade on, someone without plans!

Thank you for your sympathy!
P.S. If you have to throw in a few more snow days...fine!

FOUR LETTER WORD

Camden learned a new word recently...fork! The only problem is, when he says it, it sounds an awful lot like another four lettered word beginning with F. I mean...he is saying that "other word" but he really means fork. Too bad the people in the grocery store don't know this. He saw an Elmo silverware set and we were ALL DONE!

{insert the "other" word anytime you see fork}

"FORK momma...FORK!"

"FORK, SPOON momma!"

"Camden want FORK!"

Nice...one old lady was staring at me, giving me nasty looks. Did she really think I was just letting him yell the "other" word with no reaction?? GEEEEEZ!

I finally got his mind on something else (a bag of M&M's) as I raced through the store hoping for no more sightings of the "FORK!"

Have you ever seen anyone so thrilled to be shoveling?

SERIOUSLY??

Seriously?? Hannah has had more snow days during her 7 month preschool career than I had in all of high school! Today we are getting ICE...tons of it! I just hope we don't lose power...

Potty Drama

My 4 and 1/2 year old, who has been potty trained for, oh...2 and 1/2 years...has had 3 accidents in the last 2 days. Not major accidents, but enough to be wet. I swear she just doesn't seem to have the time for potty breaks. You know, when you are 4, your priorities are dolls, dressing up and what is for snack...not remembering to use the dang toilet. The worst part of the whole thing is now she has decided she just won't wear panties..."Then they won't get wet, mommy." ARE YOU SERIOUS??? (I suppose the reasoning behind it isn't all that bad) But, NO WAY!! I guess I will go back to the old days when I made her try to go every hour, no excuses. I just don't know what is going on with her. I thought maybe she had a UTI/Bladder infection but she says it doesn't hurt when she goes and also says its not itchy...i even had a little look at tubby time, all looks normal to me.

SOOO-
Is this for attention?
Is she just forgetting to go?
Is she waiting too long before she goes?
Do I call the doctor?

It's just a little frustrating for this to start up after years of being potty trained. I feel bad for her because I don't want it to happen at preschool, she would be humiliated. I will definitely talk to her teacher in the morning, and then I will worry for the 4 hours she is there...

Not Me Monday

I have been intrigued by MckMama over at
:

And so I am going to do my first, "Not Me Monday" post. If you want to learn more about "Not me Monday" or want to join in on the fun, CHECK IT OUT on the button below!

Here it goes...

* I DID NOT pretend I was still asleep this morning when Hannah came into our bedroom and then ignore her the first 2 times she asked to climb into our bed. I wouldn't have done that!

* I DID NOT eat 4 brownies yesterday after Hannah and I made them. And I definalty DID NOT tell her she couldn't lick the batter on the spoon, only to lick it myself the minute she left the room... nope NOT ME!!!

* I DID NOT actually get excited last night when I saw that the new season of "The Bachelor" starts tonight at 8:00! This show never works out in the end and I WOULD NEVER waste my time watching every single episode of every single season!

AND FINALLY...
*I DID NOT put off doing laundry last night so that I could play Mario Kart with Lee after the kids were asleep...that would be childish!

Lounging in our Jammies.

Today is a lazy day around our house. After a busy/sick few weeks, we are using today as a prep day for getting back into our normal routine tomorrow. Lee goes back to work, Hannah back to preschool and as for me...I need to get this house clean, organized and not looking like a tornado of toys just swept through.

It is amazing to me how much "stuff" 2 children under the age of 5 can accumulate. And its not just toys...we have about 12 pillows just hanging around, princesses, barbie, cars, hannah montana, dogs, bears, elmo-ALL in pillow form! I mean, really, do we need to have enough pillows in the house to supply the entire neighborhood?? Ok enough about pillows, lol!

So anyways, we have no big plans today...the boys are watching football with my brother Mark, Hannah is playing with her dolls and I am just enjoying the calmness of it all!

Camden is on the mend....finally!

This is how Cam has spent the last 6 days...

HAVING A MELTDOWN....

OR SLEEPING.

He's been so sick, fever, coughing, runny nose...miserable. But I think we have finally turned a corner, he slept through the night and woke up HAPPY. He even ate some breakfast. Hopefully we can leave the house today for at least a little bit, I feel like I haven't seen the real world in days!

The gift that keeps on giving!

I got my Keurig coffee maker for Christmas from my mom and stepdad. LOVE IT!

The only issue I am havng is I am now drinking 3-4 cups of coffee a day, instead of my usual 1 that I used to go out and get every morning after dropping Miss Hannah at preschool. I am basically on a permanent caffine buzz! It has been helpful with the long nights awake with Cam being sick, but I think I need to restrain myself to 2 cups a day. I tried decaf...eeewww!

But besides my own coffee addiction, I highly reccommend this thing!

Lunchtime Madness

Camden has been sick for 6 days, up all night coughing and a nose running like a faucet. Needless to say we are all exhausted from lack of sleep. So today we decided the kids would eat an early lunch and EVERYONE would have a nap.
Lee made soup and we sat the kids down. Hannah had to have her YELLOW bowl, its the only bowl she will eat soup from, no idea why. She also had to have an ice cube in it...and a straw. (Apparently you cannot eat soup any other way when you are 4.) Camden is usually prety easy at mealtime, not today! Lee gave hin his dish and he threw it back at him, landing a bowl of soup all over the floor, high chair and both boys. Well, we cleaned up the mess and I gave Camden a little "lecture" on throwing our food, like he cares! Hannah also added in, "Well if you would just behave Cam..." Oh brother!
...Not 5 minutes later I turn to see Hannah with her bowl on her lap....Clean up #2!

So now while the kids and Lee lay down for a nap, I will mop the dining room floor, clean the high chair and throw the clothes with soup all over them in the laundry. I should be finished just in time for Hannah to wake up saying she hungry b/c she didn't eat her soup...
