My terrible horrible no good very bad day!

(Ever read that book to your children? It's a good one!)

Do you ever have a day that just cannot end soon enough? Today is THAT DAY!

3AM: Camden wakes up screaming,"Momma,my ear!"I go into his room to find him burning up and crying in pain. We spend the next 3 hours with him, trying to calm him and settle him down.

6AM: We decide that we all might as well get up, we've been awake for hours! I go to brush my teeth &realize my toothbrush is in the trash bin. GROSS! Hannah claims she had nothing to do with it, I am not so sure. The only extra new toothbrush I can find is a baby toothbrush, so I use it.

The next few hours are a blur of crying toddlers and a cranky preschooler who thinks she isn't getting enough attention!

11:30AM: At the doctor...Camden has a double ear infection. His 3rd ear infection in 5 months.I know it isn't my fault, but I feel so bad!

I know that the pharmacy is very slow so I decide to wait to pick up antibiotics.
Camden is so sick all afternoon, he wants to be held, then wants to be left alone, he's thirsty, he's not...ugh!

4 hours later...I go to pick up the meds and guess what? They still aren't ready! OMG I wanted scream!!! 45 minutes later we left the store with our meds...too bad I forgot to buy myself a toothbrush!

6 PM:I make the kids mac and cheese,b/c it's what they want and I am in no mood to argue with a sick 2 year old and a PMSing 4 year old. I turn around from the table to answer the phone and when I return...Hannah has the macaroni mushed into her glasses!!!
She is seriously this jealous when Cam is sick..anything for attention!

6:30PM: Hannah shows me her glasses, they have a chip in them,WTH!!!! We just got these new lenses on Saturday!

I am so DONE with this day!!

Better luck next time lady!!

I am a person who enjoys grocery shopping. I am not sure if it because it is pretty much my only "alone" time with no kids or because it is SHOPPING, one of my fav. pastimes. But today while I was there I got really annoyed. Not because the bananas were all already ripe and would not last more than a few days, not because someone dropped a jar of spaghetti sauce in the middle of the pasta aisle and not even because I had to wait for 10 minutes in the Dunkin Donuts line for coffee.(Yes, we have one in the store.)
My annoyance came when I was in the checkout line. The lines were 2 or 3 deep, b/c they NEVER have enough lanes open. So there I was, waiting patiently, looking at the latest ABC SOAPS magazine. (That addiction is for another post) So yeah, I was waiting with my cart less than half full when I hear someone behind me say, "I'd like to go in front of you if you don't mind." I turned around. The lady was talking to me. I gave a sort of smile and took a glance at her cart...it was WAY MORE FULL than mine. Then again she said "Could I just squeeze in front of you, I don't really like to wait in line." WHAT????? I couldn't even speak for a second. Seriously, do any of us WANT to wait in line? Too bad lady! But I didn't say that. Instead I lied, " I am actually in a hurry today, my son is at home sick with a sitter, sorry." I smiled and turned around. I didn't care, this woman did not seem to have a valid reason to not wait in the line like the rest of us. She was fairly young, well, she wasn't elderly or anything.
She clearly just did not have patience b/c the next thing I knew she was out of my line and heading to the next aisle...hope she had better luck there!

Am I really blogging about towels?

Yes folks, it has come to this.towel Pictures, Images and Photos

It has recently come to my attention that the bath towels in my house are disappearing...seriously, they are!

Now, our collection of bath towels is nothing if not a hodge podge of random colors, shapes and brands. We have the yellow ones that Lee and I got from our wedding registry...almost 8 years ago, the light blue ones I "splurged" on at Macy's a few years back and then the random ones we have accumulated over the years from...well, who the heck knows. They are not beautiful, they are not fancy, but they do the job.

I would say we have (had) about 12 bath towels in circulation. 4 people, one towel a day each...we could go 3 days without a load of towels being washed. Now at my last count we have 6 and yeah, if you cannot tell...IT IS REALLY BUGGING ME! I have checked the hampers and laundry baskets, i have checked under beds, in drawers, and even in the closets. Seriously, where'd they go??? I just don't get it. I even emailed Lee at work about it today,to which I get a reply of "I don't have the bath towels here at work." NO S#&T! But where are they??

Where do 6 large towels disappear to? They don't get sucked up into the washer like the missing socks, that would be impossible. My kids are not hording them in their rooms for various reason, I checked!

I know, I know, whoa is me...people have bigger problems than missing towels, I understand this. But today, for me...this is an issue.

***Oh look- JCPenney is having a sale...Buy one TOWEL, Get one FREE! Come'on kids, where heading to the mall!***

UGG-ly Situation

Hannah announced midday that she will no longer be attending preschool.

I was really surprised to hear her say it. She usually loves school, begs to go on days off and get ticked off at me when I pick her up at noon, "Why can't I be a full day kid, mommy?" (Because mommy and daddy cannot afford to send you full day, sweetie.) No, I have never actually said that to her.

So...needless to say I knew something must be wrong. My first thought was that she was getting picked on because she has glasses. (I would be in that classroom so quickly tomorrow giving a little lesson on why some children need glasses and how we are different.) But no, that wasn't it. A little girl, we'll call her P, told my daughter that she cannot play with her- BECAUSE HANNAH DOESN'T HAVE UGGS!!! Are you flipping kidding me?!?!? Apparently a few of the girls do have Uggs and are now the elite preschool crowd. Much to Hannah's surprise she does not have real Uggs, she's got a knock-off pair that I bought a Target. She was happy with them and didn't know the difference...UNTIL NOW! I am sorry, I am not spending that kind of money on a pair of boots for my preschooler. I love her, I want her to be fashionable, but I refuse to spend that kind of money, I DON'T EVEN HAVE UGGS~ugg Pictures, Images and Photos

So this little girl told Hannah that only the girls with real Uggs can play with her. I think there are like 3 kids with them. I just can't even believe this is happening in a preschool-my god. I told Hannah that she should try to play with someone besides P tomorrow, that there a plenty of nice little girls to play with. I also told her I would talk to her teachers in the morning when I drop her off.

Is my kid going to be an outcast because I won't buy her $90 boots?

What is up with kids these days?

Shouldn't my preschooler be worrying about what color paint to use rather than the brand name of her boots??

Sick of the sickies

This winter has been a tough one, health wise. I am quite sure someone in the house has been sick everyday since mid-December. I don't ever remember having so many colds go through the house. I am sure it has to do with the lovely preschool germs that Hannah is bringing home to share. We are going through 3 or 4 boxes of tissues a week and the kids have been eating popsicles like it is July. (For some reason they both love popsicles when they are sick.) I am not sure I have had a full night of sleep in months, between the coughing, hacking, sneezing and children needing drinks at all hours...I don't know if my body knows how to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time.

BUT THERE IS ONE PERSON WHO HAS REMAINED HEALTHY! ME!

And it's a good thing because some has to take care of everyone!

Winter BLAHS are setting in!

Well it's almost the end of January, so that means here in New England we have a good 2 months more of winter to "look forward to." It also means the people I live with are starting to go stir crazy! I have heard IT ALL, all of the things they want to do. SOOO...
I have compiled a list of the things they all want do but can't...LISTEN UP KIDS!

THINGS WE CANNOT DO IN THE WINTER:
1. Play on the swingset
2. Ride bikes
3. Roller skate
4. Dig in the dirt
5. Swim in Meme's pool
6. Go outside with no coat
7. Go swing at the park
8. Hop in the wagon and go for a walk.
9. Use sidewalk chalk on the driveway
10.Wear flip flops
11.Take baby dolls for walks in their stroller
12.Sleep in a tent...outside

***I cannot change these things, so crying, whining, begging and temper tantrums will not work***

I have made indoor tents, not good enough.
I have brought beach shovels and pails into the snow, kept them happy for about a minute. They actually fought over the snow!
I let Hannah wear her bathing suit around the house for a day, all she did was complain she was cold but would not change.
I bought a chalkboard and hung it up in the playroom, apparently not "fun" like outside.

So, for now, I GIVE UP! The winter has won and I feel trapped! I need a vacation!

Lounging in our Jammies.

Today is a lazy day around our house. After a busy/sick few weeks, we are using today as a prep day for getting back into our normal routine tomorrow. Lee goes back to work, Hannah back to preschool and as for me...I need to get this house clean, organized and not looking like a tornado of toys just swept through.

It is amazing to me how much "stuff" 2 children under the age of 5 can accumulate. And its not just toys...we have about 12 pillows just hanging around, princesses, barbie, cars, hannah montana, dogs, bears, elmo-ALL in pillow form! I mean, really, do we need to have enough pillows in the house to supply the entire neighborhood?? Ok enough about pillows, lol!

So anyways, we have no big plans today...the boys are watching football with my brother Mark, Hannah is playing with her dolls and I am just enjoying the calmness of it all!

Lunchtime Madness

Camden has been sick for 6 days, up all night coughing and a nose running like a faucet. Needless to say we are all exhausted from lack of sleep. So today we decided the kids would eat an early lunch and EVERYONE would have a nap.
Lee made soup and we sat the kids down. Hannah had to have her YELLOW bowl, its the only bowl she will eat soup from, no idea why. She also had to have an ice cube in it...and a straw. (Apparently you cannot eat soup any other way when you are 4.) Camden is usually prety easy at mealtime, not today! Lee gave hin his dish and he threw it back at him, landing a bowl of soup all over the floor, high chair and both boys. Well, we cleaned up the mess and I gave Camden a little "lecture" on throwing our food, like he cares! Hannah also added in, "Well if you would just behave Cam..." Oh brother!
...Not 5 minutes later I turn to see Hannah with her bowl on her lap....Clean up #2!

So now while the kids and Lee lay down for a nap, I will mop the dining room floor, clean the high chair and throw the clothes with soup all over them in the laundry. I should be finished just in time for Hannah to wake up saying she hungry b/c she didn't eat her soup...
